Tekashi 6ix9ine is in the dark and anxiously awaiting to hear his fate next week … or so we’re being told.

Sources at 69’s federal detention facility tell TMZ … Tekashi is feeling the pressure ahead of his sentencing hearing on Wednesday, where the court will decide how long he’ll be behind bars going forward after cooperating with the feds and snitching his heart out.

Our sources say 6ix9ine is incredibly nervous — despite his tough-guy public image — and that he has no idea what to expect. We’re told Tekashi knows he’s at the mercy of the judge — who can toss him in a cage and throw away the key for a long time if he sees fit.

Based on the charges he’s already pled guilty to, Tekashi faces, at minimum, 47 years in prison — although he and prosecutors have asked for significantly less.

You’ll recall … Tekashi submitted a personal letter under his government name, Daniel Hernandez, pleading with the judge to give him a second chance — as he says he’s seen the error of his ways and wants to do right by himself, his family and his fans.

His mom and other loved ones also submitted letters of their own asking for the same thing.

As far as his courtroom look, our sources tell us Tekashi isn’t going to be all that fancy or polished. In fact, we’re told the guy’s probably going to look more like the opposite of that … which means he definitely ain’t showing up in a suit.

We’re told Tekashi will be in prison scrubs come judgment day, and that his hair will be long, braided and not nearly as rainbow-colored as it once was. Our sources say his hair color has faded significantly since he was initially locked away more than a full year ago.

David Harbour is used to entering alternate dimensions on Stranger Things, but for his next role, he’s becoming an alternate version of Mr Burns on The Simpsons.

The Hopper actor has signed up to the long-running animated series, appearing in an episode that parodies Undercover Boss.

In the season 32 episode, Nuclear Power Plant boss Mr Burns spots some graffiti on the wall that declares it is “not excellent”, and decides to go undercover to sort the problem, with his disguised version voiced by Harbour.

“Like Mission: Impossible, they give him a whole new body and face and voice so that these people in the plant won’t possibly recognise him,” executive producer Al Jean told Entertainment Weekly.

“He’s supposed to be a blue-collar guy from another part of the plant, but everything he says is like Mr Burns. He wants to go to karaoke and sing songs from the 1890s, but the guys don’t see through it.”

We just can’t wait to hear Harbour do an evil-sounding “excellent”.

LAS VEGAS – Kamaru Usman took his time.

Then, he ended Colby Covington. Ended him.

Usman fought a back-and-forth battle with the Twitter troll for four-and-a-half rounds. It was impossible to wonder why the Nigerian-American wasn’t pressing the issue.

But then, with the clock ticking down in the fifth and final round, Usman obliterated Covington with a straight right hand. Covington fell and covered-up. Usman was on top of him immediately, peppering him with punches. Seconds later, the referee stepped in with exactly 50 seconds left.

It might have been a little early, admittedly, but it was likely just a matter of time before Covington was done.

“This one’s not just for me,” Usman said. “This one’s for the whole entire world.”

With the win, Usman retained his welterweight (170 lbs.) title and will have more big paydays on the way.

That matters, of course, but beating Covington and doing it emphatically almost felt more important. Covington has been relentlessly trash-talking everyone in the welterweight division for years, often playing to the lowest common denominator and saying things that were offensive on many levels.

The American stormed out of the octagon after the loss and it’s entirely possible that he won’t be heard from for a long time.

To his credit, he fought a good fight. He won more than his fair share of striking exchanges and didn’t appear to be slowing down in the fifth round. Had the fight gone to the judges’ scorecards, it is entirely conceivable that he would have emerged victorious.

Instead, he ate a hard right hand to the chin and collapsed to the octagon floor.

“I really wanted to knock him out,” Usman said. “I said all month I was going to punish him for 24 minutes and then knock him out, and that’s what I did.”

VOLKANOVSKI PULLS OFF UPSET

You might as well book the rematch now.

Alexander Volkanovski is the new UFC featherweight champion after getting the better of Max Holloway in a back-and-forth thriller on Saturday night at UFC 245, but the margins were so small it would be crazy not to run it back.

There won’t be a fight fan in the world who doesn’t want five more rounds of this new rivalry.

Volkanovski earned a unanimous decision after perfectly executing a gameplan that involved pulverizing Holloway’s legs with kicks for the first two rounds and then playing with distance and landing more punches.

It was a composed, mature performance from Volkanovski, who burst onto the UFC scene in late-2016 and has proceeded to win eight straight in the MMA’s most prominent promotion.

Holloway, though, has been wrecking every featherweight who has been place in front of him for a couple years now. There were few people picking Volkanovski to pull off the upset.

But the Australian did just that, and his crisp striking and mature approach was more than enough to frustrate Holloway, who appeared at the top of his game.

“We’ve had great champions in this division,” Volkanovski said. “(Jose) Aldo was the greatest ever champion. Max was a great champion. I promise to be a great champion.”

The UFC would be crazy not to book a rematch as soon as possible, although they may choose to force Holloway to fight a tune-up fight or two.

It’s a safe bet that Holloway will win those. He didn’t look bad on Saturday night, he simply got beat by a world-class fighter. Maybe people didn’t realize Volkanovski deserved to be talked about in those terms prior to Saturday night, but they do now.

“I’m only 28, I’m only getting better,” Holloway said. “I’ll be back.”

AND STILL

There were moments when it almost felt like Amanda Nunes might have exhausted herself to the point where Germaine de Randamie might be able to take advantage.

Every time you allowed that thought to creep into your mind, though, Nunes seemed to take de Randamie down to the octagon mat and proceed to beat on her for minutes on end.

Nunes was thoroughly dominant in defending her 135 lbs. title – she also holds the women’s UFC 145 lbs. belt — on Saturday night.

Eight times, she took de Randamie down. On each occasion, she took complete control.

If there was any risk for Nunes, it was when they were both standing. For one brief stretch in the second round, it even looked like de Randamie might have been doing real damage in their standup exchanges.

So what did Nunes do? She shot for a takedown and finished the round on top of her Dutch opponent, landing a couple shots but completely in control.

That same pattern repeated itself again and again for the five round fight. Yes, there was a brief 10-second stretch when de Randamie attempted a triangle submission in the fourth and had a little success, but it ultimately proved completely inconsequential.

“My game plan was to go five rounds and work the takedown,”

Nunes said.

“I almost got two submissions but made some mistakes and I have to fix that.”

Saturday night’s win won’t go down as one of Nunes’ all-time greats. It simply didn’t generate the excitement that her knockout wins over Ronda Rousey, Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino and Holly Holm did.

But to her credit, Nunes thoroughly dominated a former featherweight champion for five rounds. She was in complete and total control of every element of the fight and never once appeared to be in trouble.

The highlights might have been few and far between, but the win should only underline the fact that Nunes is as dominant a champion as the UFC has right now.

Swift is the first female headline performer since Adele in 2016 and the sixth solo female headliner in the festival’s 50-year history

Taylor Swift will close the 2020 Glastonbury festival with a headline performance on the Pyramid stage on Sunday night.

“I’m ecstatic to tell you that I’ll be headlining Glastonbury on its 50th anniversary – See you there! ”, Swift tweeted.

Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis said: “I’m so pleased to announce Taylor Swift will be headlining the Sunday at Glastonbury 2020. She’s one of the biggest stars in the world and her songs are absolutely amazing. We’re so delighted.”

Festival co-organizer Emily Eavis added: “Taylor is one of the biggest and best artists on the planet, and we’re just so pleased that she’s coming here to Worthy Farm to join us for our fiftieth birthday celebrations.”

Swift joins Paul McCartney, who will headline on Saturday, and Diana Ross, who will play the “legends” slot on Sunday teatime.

Swift, who turned 30 on Friday, released her seventh album Lover earlier this year. It was recently announced that it is the only album of 2019 to sell more than 1m “pure” copies – ie physical and digital sales, not including streams. It placed at No 27 in the Guardian’s list of the best albums of 2019, hailed as a work that “paints in complex emotional shades and finds an artist known for her strict adherence to her brand trying lots of new things”.

It is her first album for Universal/Republic after leaving her former label, Big Machine, in late 2018. Swift has been frank about her unsuccessful fight to purchase the master recordings of the six albums she recorded for Big Machine after the label was bought by mogul Scooter Braun in June 2019. Accusing Braun – who manages Kanye West and Justin Bieber – of persistent bullying, Swift described it as “my worst-case scenario”.

The situation has played out very publicly in subsequent months. On Thursday 12 December, Swift accepted Billboard magazine’s woman of the decade award. She used her acceptance speech to criticize Braun for allegedly relying on the private equity firms 23 Capital and the Carlyle Group in addition to the Soros family in order to purchase the record label. Her cause has drawn support from congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and US presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren.

She also hailed a new generation of female pop peers including Lizzo, Dua Lipa and Billie Eilish, and advocated for the increased presence of women in technical and professional roles in the music industry. “Rather than fighting to be taken seriously in their fields, these women are still struggling to have a chance to even be in the room,” she told the Hollywood Palladium.

This month, she stars as Bombalurina in the new adaptation of Cats. Her latest single, Christmas Tree Farm, is in contention for the Christmas No 1 spot.

Glastonbury 2020 marks Swift’s first appearance at the festival. She is the first female performer to headline since Adele in 2016 and the sixth solo female headliner in the festival’s 50-year history.

Festival co-organizer Emily Eavis has said that the gender split of performers at next year’s festival will be “as close to 50-50 as we can”. She told Music Week in November: “It’s as important to have females on the bill as much as men but the pool – certainly on the headliner front – is not as big. So we have to work on that as an industry and nurture all these women coming through.”

Friday night’s headliner is still to be announced. Emily Eavis has clarified that it is a male performer who has never appeared at the festival before. Pulitzer prize-winning US rapper Kendrick Lamar has been heavily rumored.

Many music fans long for a set from Fleetwood Mac, who have never headlined Glastonbury, but organizer Michael Eavis complained at 2019’s festival: “I can’t afford them at the moment! They’ll have to bring their price down because we can’t afford it. But they said the other day that they really want to do it and if they don’t do it before they die they’ll go to hell.”

The band welcomes back longtime guitarist for third stint “with great excitement and full hearts”

Red Hot Chili Peppers announced Sunday that the band has parted ways with guitarist Josh Klinghoffer after 10 years and have reunited with the musician that Klinghoffer replaced, John Frusciante.

“Josh is a beautiful musician who we respect and love,” Red Hot Chili Peppers wrote on Instagram. “We are deeply grateful for our time with him, and the countless gifts he shared with us.”

The band added, “We also announce, with great excitement and full hearts, that John Frusciante is rejoining our group.”

The reunion marks Frusciante’s third stint with Red Hot Chili Peppers: After joining the band in 1988 following the death of guitarist Hillel Slovak, Frusciante featured on the band’s 1989 LP Mother’s Milk and 1991 masterpiece Blood Sugar Sex Magik; the enormous success of the latter resulted in Frusciante leaving the group mid-tour in support of the album.

Frusciante rejoined Chili Peppers six years later, playing on the band’s 1999 album Californication, 2002’s By the Way and 2006’s Stadium Arcadium. Frusciante quit the band again in September 2009 during their extended hiatus and was replaced on a full-time basis by Klinghoffer, who was the band’s backup touring guitarist. Klinghoffer remained a member of Red Hot Chili Peppers for their two most recent studio albums, 2011’s I’m With You and 2016’s The Getaway. In 2016, Frusciante briefly reunited with Anthony Kiedis and Flea at a benefit concert.

Red Hot Chili Peppers have so far booked a pair of 2020 U.S. shows, May 15th at Gulf Shores, Alabama’s Hangout Festival and May 24th at the Boston Calling fest.

Gershon Kingsley, the electronic music pioneer who wrote some of the genre’s most enduring songs, has died at the age of 97.

Kingsley’s family tweeted that the composer died December 10th. No cause of death was revealed.

“We are saddened to share that pioneering synthesist and legendary composer Gershon Kingsley has passed away,” the Moog Foundation tweeted. “Our love, respect, and condolences go out to his family and loved ones. He will be deeply missed.”

A Tony Award-nominated Broadway conductor before he started exploring the musical possibilities of the Moog synthesizer, the German-born Kingsley first recorded music alongside fellow electronic music trailblazer Jean-Jacques Perry in the duo Perrey and Kingsley. Together the two recorded the influential 1966 album The In Sound From Way Out and co-write the 1967 composition “Baroque Hoedown,” the latter becoming a staple as the soundtrack for Disneyland’s Main Street Electrical Parade. Perrey died in November 2016.

Kingsley then embarked on a solo career with 1969’s Music to Moog By, an album filled with covers of the Beatles, Beethoven, and Simon & Garfunkel performed on a Moog synthesizer as well as Kingsley works like the composer’s most popular song, “Popcorn.”
